Ingredients
Pressure Cook
- Toor Dal - 2 Cups
- Raw Mango / Kaccha Aam - 1.5 Cup
- Hing / Asafoetida - 1/4 Tsp
- Salt - 1 Tsp
- Water - 4 Cups
Tadka
- Ghee - 2 Tbsp
- Cumin / Jeera- 2 Tsp
- Mustard Seeds / Badi Rai - 1 Tsp
- Dry Red Chilli - 2
- Ginger - 1/2 Tbsp
- Garlic - 2 Tbsp
- Green Chiilies - 3
- Curry Leaves / Curry Patta - 12
- Onion - 1 Big
- Turmeric / Haldi - 1/2 Tsp
- Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder - 1 Tsp
- Deseeded Tomato - 2 Big
- Salt - 1 Tsp
- Water - 1.5 Cups
- Garam Masala - 1/2 Tbsp
Instructions
Pressure Cook
- In a pressure cook on medium heat add Toor dal soaked for 30 minutes, Raw Mangoes, Hing, Salt and water.
- Cook in the pressure cooker for 2 Whistles (7 Liter Cooker). More Whistles for Smaller cookers.
- After the whistles turn off the stove and let the cooker depressurize on its own.
- Once the cooker is depressurized open the lid , stor and keep it aside.
Tadka
- In a big pan on medium high heat , add ghee.
- Once the Ghee is heated add Jeera, Mustard seeds. Cook till Mustard seeds sputters.
- Add Dry Red Chillies and cook for a minute.
- Add Ginger and Garlic and cook till raw aroma of ginger goes away.
- Add Green Chillies and Curry leaves. Cook for 30 seconds.
- Add Onions and cook till onions are translucent.
- Add Turmeric , Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder and Cook for 2 minutes.
- Add De-seeded Tomatoes, salt and cook till Tomatoes are properly cooked.
- Now add the Dal from pressure cooker, water and mix well.
- Cover the Pan with a lid and Cook for 10 minutes in low.
- Remove the lid , Add Garam Masala and mix well.
- Garnish with Cilantro!!
