Mughlai Matar Paneer Recipe – Dhaba Style!!

Ingredients

For Paste

  • Ghee - 2 Tbsp
  • Black Cardamom / Badi Elaichi- 2
  • Green Cardamom / Elaichi - 6
  • Cinnamon / Dalchini - 1 inch
  • Cloves / Laung - 5
  • Black Peppercorn / Kali Mirch - 1/4 Tsp
  • Coriander / Dhaniya Seeds - 2 Tsp
  • Cumin / Jeera - 2 Tsp
  • Ginger - 1 Tbsp
  • Garlic - 1 Tbsp
  • Green Chilli - 4
  • Cashews - 20
  • Onion - 1 Big Chopped
  • Tomato - 4 medium Chopped
  • Salt - 1 Tsp

Gravy

  • Butter - 1 Tbsp
  • Cumin / Jeera - 1 Tsp
  • Turmeric - 1/2 Tsp
  • Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder - 2 Tbsp
  • Honey - 1 Tsp
  • Salt - 1 Tsp
  • Water - 1 Cup
  • Cream - 2 Tbsp
  • Green Peas - 2 Cups
  • Paneer - 400 Gm

Instructions

To make Paste

  1. In a big pan on medium high heat add Ghee.
  2. Now add Black Cardamom, Green Cardamom, Cinnamon, Cloves, Coriander Seeds, Cumin.
  3. Cook for 1 minute or till Jeera sputters.
  4. Now add Ginger, Garlic , GReen Chillies and Cashews. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
  5. Add Onion and cook till translucent.
  6. Add Tomatoes and Salt. Cook till tomatoes are fully soft.
  7. Turn the heat off, keep it on the side and Let it cool.
  8. Once Cool, Grind into Fine Paste.

For Matar Paneer

  1. In the same pan now add butter and Cumin seeds.
  2. Cook till cumin starts to sputter.
  3. Now Add paste to the pan and mix.
  4. Add Turmeric, Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder, Honey, Salt and water. Mix well.
  5. Now add Cream, Green Peas and Mix. Cover with lid and cook for 10 minutes on medium heat.
  6. Stir in between.
  7. Add Paneer and Cook for 2 more minutes.
