Ingredients
For Dal
- Masoor Dal - 2 Cups
- Oil - 2 Tbsp
- Jeera / Cumin - 1 Tsp
- Onions - 2 Cups
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 Tbsp
- Green Chillies - 6
- Tomatoes - 1.5 Cups
- Salt - 2 Tsp
- Kitchen King - 1/4 Tsp
- Haldi / Turmeric - 1/4 Tsp
- Lal Mirch / Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 Tsp
Tadka
- Ghee - 2 Tbsp
- Cumin - 1/2 Tsp
- Hing - 1/4 Tsp
- Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 Tsp
- Water - 5 Cups
Instructions
Cooking Dal
- Heat oil in a pan. Keep heat on medium to high
- Add Jeera and wait until it splutters.
- Add Onions and cook till they are golden brown.
- Add Ginger Garlic Paste and Green Chilies, cook until raw aroma of Ginger Garlic disappears.
- Add Tomatoes and salt, cook until tomatoes get soft (approximately 2 to 3 minutes).
- Add Kitchen King, Haldi and Lal Mirch and mix well.
- Add raw Dal and water. Mix well.
- Close the pressure cooker lid and cook for 3 whistles if the cooker is big (5 or 7 liters) and 6 to 8 if using small cooker (3 liters)
Tadka
- Heat oil in a pan. Keep heat on medium.
- Add Jeera and wait until it splutters.
- Add Hing and Lal Mirch.
- Put Dal in serving bowl and add the Tadka to the dal.
- Serve with Onion Rice Dhaba Style and Jeera Aloo Dhaba Style for ultimate comfort food.
