Tomato Rice | Quick & Easy – Dhaba Style !

How to make Tomato Rice – Tomato rice is a very easy and delicious recipe. Prepared by cooking Rice in a Tomato Masala.
Serve with Dhaba Style Raita!!

Ingredients

  • Oil - 4 Tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 Tsp
  • Methi Seeds - 1/4 Tsp
  • Cinnamon - 2 Inch
  • Cloves - 6
  • Onion - 1 Cup fine Chopped
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 3 Tsp
  • Tomatoes - 2 Cup chopped
  • Green Chilies - 2
  • Chopped Coriander Leaves - 1/2 Cup
  • Curry Leaves - 20
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 Tsp
  • Red Chili Powder - 1 Tsp
  • Kashmiri Red Chili Powder - 1Tsp
  • Black Pepper Powder - 1 Tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1 Tsp
  • Cumin Powder - 2 Tsp
  • Soaked Rice - 2 Cup
  • Water - 3 Cups
  • Salt - 2.5 Tsp

Instructions

  1. Heat Oil in a pressure cooker on low flame
  2. Add mustard seeds
  3. Once the mustard seeds starts to crackle, add Methi Seeds and saute for few seconds
  4. Add Onions and saute for few minutes.
  5. Add Cinnamon and Cloves, mix and saute with onions until the Onions turn translucent.
  6. Add Ginger & Garlic Paste, Green Chillies and Curry Leaves. Saute till the raw aroma disappears.
  7. Add Coriander leaves and saute fora minute.
  8. Add finally tomatoes and mix well.
  9. Add Turmeric Powder, Red Chilli Powder, Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder, Black Pepper Powder Coriander Powder, Cumin Powder and mix well.
  10. Cook until the tomatoes becomes soft and releases oil.
  11. Add Soaked Rice and mix.
  12. Add Water and Salt.
  13. Pressure cook for 1 whistle and let the pressure cooker let to depressurize by itself.
  14. Fluff and Mix the rice Genty.
